With a bilingual Kannada-Marathi film, a rare direct release on an OTT platform for the Kannada film industry, and another upcoming Kannada theatre release later this year, actress Manvita Kamath is keeping busy exploring different mediums in the world of cinema. In an interview with Bangalore Times, she discusses her experiences in the industry, the support she receives from her husband and his family following her recent wedding, and her thoughts on acting across various platforms.

"I enjoy the excitement of appearing on the big screen, but OTT platforms offer exposure to a whole new audience," says Manvita. "I have always believed that I am suited for different mediums as an actor. While nothing can quite compare to the thrill of seeing yourself in a movie theater, the rise of OTT platforms provides unique opportunities. I have been fortunate to be part of films that achieved long theatrical runs, although those days seem to be behind us. However, I also appreciate the benefits of streaming services, which have widened access to diverse content for viewers."

She continues, "OTT platforms eliminate the need to cater to specific audience segments like in a theatrical release. Films on these platforms can reach a broader viewership regardless of language or location. Currently, I am excited about the release of my bilingual project, 'Chakhamakhi,' and my Kannada film, 'One and Half,' which will hit theaters soon. Additionally, I have another film scheduled for a direct OTT release. I am eagerly anticipating the response to all three projects."

Addressing the impact of social media on her image, Manvita reflects on the evolving nature of public perception. "On social media, appearances can be deceiving, and what one sees may not always reflect reality. As a somewhat private person, I have occasionally declined interviews in the past. With the changing landscape of digital platforms, I find myself contemplating the need to enhance my presence online to engage with my audience."I used to avoid interviews because I thought I didn't have much to share as news. However, now with social media, I realize the importance of showcasing my work and character online to shape people's perceptions of me. It's concerning how easily people believe what they see online, sometimes making me question if I should step up my game on social platforms. Often, what you present online is what people think is true, overshadowing the hard work, dedication, and respect you have for your craft behind the scenes. I am determined to not let negativity affect me. I am grateful for the unwavering support of my mentors and loyal friends, especially my husband Arun and his family who appreciate and celebrate my accomplishments. While my mother was initially hesitant about me joining the film industry, my husband and his family are enthusiastic about my work. Reflecting on my past, I realize I was somewhat naive in my career. But as I mature both personally and professionally, I have learned to set boundaries and not allow others to undermine my confidence. I have distanced myself from individuals who try to bring me down, focusing instead on doing meaningful work and remaining resilient in the face of negativity.
